In
2004 our lives took on a new direction. After being married for
25 years, seeing our last two children move out after joining the
Marine Corps, we found our house empty
and noticed that we now had a lot of free time on our hands. Since we are very active, enjoy learning new things, and
love to travel, we decided to try our hand at running an online
Boutique. In 2007 we became grandparents.
In
2001 we won an all-expense paid trip, valued at $25,000, to France. We won it through a
sweepstakes (Live Large Challenge) sponsored by Forbes.com.
That trip changed the direction of our lives and we didn't even know
it at the time. In April of 2002 we traveled to France on that
amazing trip. We stayed at the
Chateau de Balleroy in Balleroy, Normandy,
France. The chateau is owned by the Forbes family and is only open
for tours and family members. In this 400-year old, 50 room castle
(with a moat - see below), the rooms were filled with gorgeous paintings and
sculptures. We were given a guided tour from the bell tower to the
tunnels below. The sense of history was amazing as you could
almost feel the presence of those who lived there before you.

We fell in love with
Le Mont Saint Michel,
Bayeaux (famous for tapestries),
Giverny
(Claude Monet's gardens),
Honfleur, the
beaches of Normandy, and of
course, Paris. While in Paris we went on a moonlight trip down the
River Seine, ate at cafes such as
Leon de Bruxelles,
dined at
La Coupole in Paris, and experienced the
Moulin
Rouge (oh-la-la). You can view our photo gallery of that trip by

Our love of European style and flair started with that trip to
France. Greg's extensive experience working with business and finances,
and Wendy's organizational skills, web design knowledge, and attention to detail
have all been combined to create Limauge Boutique.
Since 1994 Wendy was known as The Computer Lady (www.thecomputerladyonline.com).
She conducted computer training, did troubleshooting, and
designed and maintained websites. In October 2005 she turned her
attention to Limauge Boutique while still keeping the web design
portion of her business. She continues to offer high quality
websites for businesses as well as training students on web design
and website marketing techniques. Greg worked in the computer field
as well but left the corporate world in July of 2005 to work at
Limauge Boutique full-time.
Our product line has changed several times since we started and
today the focus is on lavender. As we grow, we will be adding products that entice, enhance, delight,
and just make you have that special warm feeling. Most of our
products are handmade us in Connecticut. While we import lavender
from France we continue to keep the "Made in US" touch to our
ever-growing product line. |
